Nanoplex is the version of The Cube Cinema that accommodates and makes way for young minds, encouraging active learning, creativity and providing opportunities for young people to help build and create their own culture. Shadows! Silhouette animation workshop followed by, Lotte Reinigers The Fairy Tale Films.

Join our animators at the Cube and learn how to create hand- cut silhouettes and animate them under the camera! The workshop will be followed by a selection of The Fairy Tale Films by animation pioneer Lotte Reiniger. Lotte Reiniger was one of the twentieth centurys major animation artists, pioneering a distinctive style of black and white silhouette animation with her interpretations of classic myths and fairytales. With wonderful music tracks and charming narrations, these enchanting films will appeal to children and adults alike.

SCISSORS- PAPER- STENCIL!

You might have been inspired by some of the street art seen around Bristol by a certain local artist? Nanoplex brings you your very own stencil workshop where you will learn how to make a single layered stencil.

Have a blast drawing, cutting and pasting your own masterpiece. Bring your own drawings or pictures that you might want to make a stencil of or make selections from our piles of stuff. You'll be amazed at what you can create!

KIDS GIG with THE LIFTMEN (support TBC)!

Nanoplex invites you to an afternoon brimming with entertain suitable for all. We are kicking off this autumns super series of monthly kids gigs with THE LIFTMEN.

A classic garage line-up of guitar, drums and bass, THE LIFTMEN roll out Fugazi-tinted odysseys and dried bubblegum bursts. Cheeky, surfy tones mixed with jazzy, Detroit shapes as Kim Deal-style vocals salt and sass within. Feeling their way, making music for musics sake and forgetting the world beyond this noble cause.

KIDS GIG WITH KID CARPET

Please note: This is an all ages show and tickets are available on the door only. Doors open at 1pm. Arrive early to avoid disappointment.

After a fantastic performance last year, KID CARPET returns to Nanoplex and the Cube by popular demand. You can expect more 'Kiddy Disco Punk' using samplers, casio keyboards, and various sellotape bound second hand toys like Fisher-Price guitars, and tamagotchi innards in what promises to be real crowd pleaser! Audience participation is encouraged and expected!

MEXICAN DAY OF THE DEAD MASK MAKING WORKSHOP

In preparation for this evening's Mexican Day of the Dead party, join us for a fun workshop decorating papier mache masks and skulls with traditional colourful patterns. Suitable for all. Wear old clothes. Masks to take home or decorate the Cube.

ALL AGES GIG WITH I KNOW I HAVE NO COLLAR

Performing a live soundtrack to 'Slush Mountain' , a picture book by Bjorn Lie, I Know I Have No Collar make lo-fi pop with drums and keyboards, write songs about lonely car journeys in the snow, and want to shake your hand while you sing along.

The band, famously inspired by a lost cat poster, return to Nanoplex with a show promising charmingly beepy keyboards and frenetic drums with plenty of creative audience participation.

XMAS FUN WITH A CHARLIE BROWN CHRISTMAS

Alongside The Cube's very own Xmas Market, Nanoplex brings you an afternoon jam packed with a drop-in workshop where you can make your very own Peanuts Xmas cards, create that extra special Christmas picture for friends and family with a unique mono print, watch favourite Xmas movies and visit Santa's grotto with surprises.

Drop-in activities from 2pm-4pm, followed by a screening of A Charlie Brown Christmas at 4pm.
